According to Women's Running Magazine, routine running can reduce the risk of Breast Cancer by 25%, Cataracts by 35%, Gastric Cancer by 50%, Depression by 19% and Serious Heart Attack by 50%. Research shows that running can increase your levels of “good cholesterol” while also helping increase lung function, as well as boost your overall immune system.
While running may not be everyone's favorite exercise, June 7th, Global Running Day, may be the day to start a new routine that can not only help you live a better and longer life but reduce stress and increase your esteem and personal confidence as well.
Here are some celebrities that swear by running and make it a part of their exercise routine; Comedians Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart, Musician Alicia Keys, SuperModel Heidi Klum, Actress and Cancer Survivor Reese Witherspoon and of course Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerburg is famous for running in all of the cities he visits.
In 2016 over 7.6 million runners participated in 5K's, which is 3.1 miles, across America. The #1 distance runners enjoy longer marathons. Overall, in America there are over 500,000 participants in more than 1,100 official marathons each year.
